Back to School

Back to School – A Mompreneur’s Mixed Bag of Emotions

As the school gates swing open once again and backpacks are dusted off, there’s a collective sigh of relief—and a touch of bittersweet emotion—in households like mine. As a mompreneur, “Back to School” doesn’t just mean earlier mornings and packed lunches. It’s the beginning of a new chapter—for my kids, and for me.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve watched my child grow a little taller, a little wiser, and a lot more independent. The night before school reopened was filled with nervous excitement, uniform checks, last-minute stationery hunts, and one too many hugs. Because let’s face it, no matter how many times we do this, watching them grow never gets easier.

But as the door closes behind them each morning, a different routine kicks in. One that’s built around building a business between school drop-offs and pickups, taking calls with cartoons playing in the background, and juggling client deadlines with art homework. It’s not always graceful—but it’s real.

Back to school also means back to focus. That precious block of school hours gives me the space to think creatively, make decisions without interruptions, and refuel the passion I poured into my brand when it was just an idea scribbled during nap time.

Still, mom guilt never takes a holiday. There are always trade-offs. Days when I miss a school event because of a client meeting. Or nights I stay up late crafting a product launch while my child sleeps soundly beside me. But then I remind myself—I’m building something not just for my child, but because of them. To show them that dreams take work, passion, and persistence.

So here’s to all the moms finding their rhythm again. Whether you’re returning to your desk, your studio, or your kitchen-based startup—know that every step you take is modeling strength, resilience, and ambition.

As a mompreneur, I wear many hats—but the one I wear with the most pride is that of being present. Even if sometimes, it’s with a laptop in one hand and a snack box in the other.

Wishing all parents, teachers, and little learners a beautiful new school year. May it be filled with growth, joy, and a few quiet hours to dream big—just like our little ones do.

Love,

Wonder Mom
